Non-rectangular wall opening in new construction phasing

The wall opening tool only creates a rectangular opening and it will only reside in the Existing Phase. The window and door generic openings are also limited to rectangular shapes. I want to create a wall opening under a stairway with a clipped corner that will show up in exiting phase as demo and in new construction with the opening. I have tried almost every workaround with masses, voids, cut, and wall profile, but nothing seems to work. Is this just not possible in Revit?

Create a model in place and add an Opening.  You can change its Phase to New Construction.
