No top rail or handrail type parameters

Is there a setting that enables some rails to not have top rail and handrail types options?

Top Rails and Handrails are defined the Type Properties of the Railing.

Create a Rail Type without Top Rail/Handrails if you need 'em.

I understand that. I am asking why those parameters are not visible in the type properties dialog in the image i posted.

21. I can those parameters in another rail family but not this one for some reason.

Sounds like you are using a Rail Type that was created in a version before Top Rails existed.

Open this railing sample file and you'll see the same thing.
