I see that in 2023.1 Revit will automatically enable a leader for Room Tags when 'outside' of the room boundaries. No more error pop ups - Help | Automatically Enabled Tag Leader | Autodesk
Sounds great.... supposed to eliminate this issue:
Room Tag Is Outside of Its Room | Revit 2019 | Autodesk Knowledge Network
Except now I see leaders starting to appear randomly for some room tags that I definitely don't want, even if the room tag was originally placed in the room and is still in the room and maybe it was adjusted to be a good position for the drawing's other annotations and based on the wall locations etc. The initial placement of said tag did not include enabling the leader and it is happening to random tags too, so not sure yet if this is happening consistently. *Note - When placing the rooms in Revit, the 3D room origin is set where a person clicks in the space, but it's definitely not always precisely where you want the tag to be. Not everyone moves the 3D room origin to the same spot as the tag since that could change a bunch in the design process. So you place the room, often move the tag around a bit.
Ok... so I need to figure out how to stop these pesky automatic leaders and clean up the ones created that I don't want! If I disable the leader that appears automatically, the tag jumps to another location - it seems to sometimes jump to the 3D room origin, often where this automatic leader is pointing to. So, it seems this new automation pulls the room origin and locates the tag based on it to pick up if it 'should' have a leader or not. It's a pain as it seems now I would need to know precisely the limit of offset from the 3D room origin that my tag needs to be in order to stop this automatic leader from happening or keep moving my 3D room origin to match my tag location. Also, the room boundary must affect this automatic leader and if so, to what limit?
Solution...? My working theory is that now I have to go back and: Move the tag again AND move the room origin closer together & likely also keep my tag a certain distance away from room boundaries... FOR HUNDREDS OF ROOMS with annotations etc changing and being added all the time. If the room tag was legitimately out of the room boundaries, I can see a leader being added, but I am seeing it being added with the tag that is still within the extents of the room, just not always precisely aligned to the room origins.
Autodesk, I know this was a community suggested feature, but it has some not so great side effects so far that I have experienced. Any other users reporting this unwanted behavior since upgrading your projects?
