New wall in existing demolished doors place, not showing as new wall in new existing + new phase.

Hi All

I am struggling with a piece of the current template that I am working on and want to fix the problem.

In the image below, there is an EXISTING PLAN (phase filter: Show All, phase: Existing) and a GENERAL PLAN (phase filter: Show Previous + New, phase: New Construction). When I place a door into the EXISTING PLAN and set it for demolition, there is a full-in of wall that sits over where the demolished door sits that I would like removed.  Furthermore, in the GENERAL PLAN, the door is replaced with an 'existing wall' (Gray) and not a 'new wall' (Yellow). 

How do I fix this problem ?

Change the door to be demolished under New phase.

Revit is only allowing me to Demolish the existing door.

No. The door should have these settings: phase created = existing, phase demolished= new construction.
