Nested family items not working

Hi,

So i'm relatively new to Revit (maybe 4-5months) and i've sourced some casework that i've been using and manipulating to suit projects. However, after adding some handles to the mix i am having the issue of when the width of the cabinet is increased, one of the handles (right hand) stays where i want it, however the left handle moves with the door width change. THis can be seen in the file when you change the "CabinetWidth=1000" to a wider dimensions. This furthermore affects other size variation/duplications of this unit and throws out the positions.

I have no idea how i managed to get the right handle to operate/stay attached which is what i'm after, and cannot for the life of me replicate it for the left handle... Hoping and assuming this is a simple solution but any help would be much appreciated!

When building Revit families it is a matter of constraining elements. Which constraints are needed is dependent on how those elements should behave. For example if they need to move around then you add reference planes/lines and dimensions, attach the elements and attach parameters to control the movement. Sometimes Revit "helps" by adding automatic constraints but it is always better to control it yourself. In your case the handle is not constrained at all meaning it behaves not as desired. So you will need to add those constraints. 

Try to get familiar with Revit family creation. Best to check out (video)courses, books or youtube to get familiar with the whole process. THIS might be a good place to start.

While you reseach and learn more about Revit Families. Below is a the quick fix for the handles in the family you uploaded... Lock the nested Handles to Reference planes.
