Nested Families as options

Picture this if you will.....

We have 4 door options. Each is it's own family nested in the door frame.

What we want is to load the frame family into a project and in the  properties dropdown, I would like to see the door options as you would see different "types" in the dropdown.  So basically I want each nested "door" family to be a type selection in the frame family.

Is this possible???

Please check below video for the method.

You will need the types loaded into the main family.

on the first option, select the door, in option bar you will find Label. add new parameter called Door type.

Now go and create new types of the main family, and for each type choose the correct door type.

You mean "see" as in see the door panel in the Preview Selector.  No.  But you can certainly build a very easy to "read" parametric family that does everything else you described.   In fact, that's what Revit does for a living.   😉
