Need help with multiple level lines on same "storey"

Hey guys.

I have a bit of a problem, and it may well be super simple and easy, but I just don't know how to search for it.

I have a (old) building which was built in multiple phases. Between the phases there are steps and ramps.

I want to as-built draw this building in Revit, to be used for renovations, but am having problems with the Level lines.

Specifically, in building A the 1st. Floor code is, say, 25.20m. Building B 1st. floor is 25.80m and building C 1st. floor is 26.30m.

I create all these various level lines in Revit, but when I do a section through Building A, I see all the levels from buildings B and C as well.

So my question is, is there no way for me to control the locations of the level lines in the X/Y plane, so that the Building A Levels are only visible in the Building A views? I've tried dragging them around in the sections, but that seems to be only view-specific and have no effect on the actual level lines.

Am I missing something really simple?

Create a scope box for each building abd associate the levels and grids of that building to that scope box.

-You could also Link the various Buildings, and then use VG/View Templates to control display of Levels in each model/views.

-Scope Boxes are also a good method as Toan suggests.

@ToanDN I have never been happy with the functionality of the Scope boxes. They seem to mostly cause more problems than they solve. Would that be the only way to do this?

@cbcarch Alas, the multiple "buildings" are still one structure. It's basically one building with a half-dozen additions, and the floor and ceiling heights never match. We are (and have been for the past 10 years) doing a MEP renovation project in multiple locations of the structure, and need it all to be one structure and one project. So far it's always been done in AutoCAD, so nobody's worried about the codes, but now we're moving this project to Revit and seeing endless problems because of it 😄

Are you aware that there are two different controls for the extent of levels? One for 3D (true extent) and one for 2D (view specific).

In the past, the 3D extents were a bit difficult to control because you had to use section views. 2019 introduced level visibility and extent controls in 3D view. I haven't had a need for it yet but could have used it in v2018.

I'm not sure way you just don't setup Filters and Templates to control Level Visibility in Views -- or hide any other information that doesn’t pertain to the View. Fundamentally, no different from what we do in AutoCAD.  Or am I under-thinking this?

@ToanDN I couldn't give you specifics. They've just always bothered me and caused problems, so I just don't use them.

@RobDraw No, I actually did not know this! I've just tested that, and it does exactly what I need. It's a bit difficult not being able to see them in Top view, so I can't align then perfectly to the building joints, but it's certainly better than nothing.

@barthbradley I want to see the level lines of the building I'm in, not the levels of the building I'm not in. Doing that with filters would be quite annoying, not to mention that filters are a View-Specific thing, which I wanted to avoid 🙂

Views is what Revit is all about. Kind of like Layers is what AutoCAD is all about.
