Move/Align Model Patterns

Hi all,

I guess I need some help here.

I realized that Model Patterns wont move when applied to an Architectural Column (this is my case, I suppose it happens the same with other family types).

This is the case:

I have some walls and some arch. columns with the same material, tiles. While I can easily move the hatch on the walls as I please it seems that this is not possible with the columns. I end up with the material on the columns not matching the same material on the wall.

Am I missing something?

Nope...doesn't work with structural columns either.  It is probably because you wouldn't expect a pattern to be applied to a column in real construction.  Maybe painted but not an actual material, something else will have to be wrapped around it.  So you will probably need to add a thin wall around your column for the material to be aligned properly.

but still I find it kind of weird. I really do not understand what the actual use of Architectural columns would be then.

Join the wall and the column. The patterns for the column and wall will match exactly. Moving one will also move the other.

I don't use them very much...if ever.  I see what you are saying though...if they are supposed to take on the appearance of the wall they are within then what is the point?  I just tried adding one to a CMU wall to create a pillar and I can't align the CMU pattern.  

I suggest adding this to the Ideas page if not there already..
