Modify | Walls > Edit Profile with Split Element won't snap at intersection or anywhere else

I am trying to edit the profile of a wall and the split element won't snap to anything, and I don't want to eyeball it.

Your expertise will be appreciated.

Plan view of intersection shows the elements are joined but do not intersect, is this part of the problem? How do I solve this part of it?

We've always had to "eyeball it".   It's a limitation you'll need to workaround.  Watch the Temporary Dims. You can get close and then adjust manually.
