modifing an imported IFC file

Good morning

SO I have imported an IFC file, and it is very badly exported from the source, there are no families and most of the items are identified as blocks.

So I tried to modify some of them and I met this strange message (as per attached photo)

attached a screenshot and the Revit file

It is pretty much straight forward. Do what Revit is suggesting set a Work Plane in that section view; otherwise, open a different view (ex: 3D) and explode it there

To set it in that section view...

  • either from the Architectural Tab (before you edit in-place) >>> Work Plane >>> Select Set >>> then either use Pick plane to pick the surface of any wall or select a valid reference plane or grid if you have any listed under the drop down menu

  • Or after you edit in place the element, From the Ribbon under Create Tab >> Work Plane >>> Select Set >>> then same as above either use Pick plane or select a valid one from the drop down menu
