Model not lining up/lagging

I have an existing and proposed culvert model and need to line the existing up with the proposed. They are both the same size so I have gone into a plan view and snapped the corner of the existing with the proposed. So at this point they should be in line. However when I zoom in the lines don't marry up with each other and change with every zoom. In 3D view it shows a gap where it should line up. Just wondering if anyone has had this problem and how to fix it?

 

There is no CAD link it is just purely Revit models.

1. Use reference lines to alone ( draw reference lines in north Revit file)

2 . You may use grid lines along with levels to line up

3. Project base point and survey base point can also be used to coordinate.

FWIW: What you are describing can also be caused when the Survey Point and Project Base Point's Startup Location (Internal Origin) are over 20 miles apart from one another.

I think that is a slight misstatement because what you wrote is fairly common when shared coordinates are being used. What the OP describes is a symptom of when model elements are very far from the origin of the file however.

What I'm talking about is the distance between the MARKERS -- not what their respective coordinates are reading.  I realize the SP and PBP could be miles apart from one another, yet their Markers could be sitting on top of one another.  But, the gist of what I was saying -- which you restated --  was that the OP was describing an issue which  happens when something is outside of the 20 mile radius limit.

The SP and PBP icons/markers can be many miles apart, that's normal given the sort of survey files we encounter. The graphic issue doesn't occur with that scenario. Model elements have to be that far apart for it to be apparent, or a linked file being present/visible in the view. A file with just a couple walls very very far apart can start to show the snapping "offset" graphic issue.

Got it. Survey Point Marker is not an element that is governed by the 20 miles radius limit.

 

When geometry is far away from the model's internal origin, the graphical representation of elements becomes less reliable and less accurate.
