Hello community,
Does anybody know what's the best workflow when working on a worksharing project and need to reload a linked file? Do all the collaborators need to reload the same linked file or is "reload latest" or "synchronize" sufficient to update the project file?
Appreciate any tips 🙂
Cheers

Hi @f_tagliettiX9WQE, "reload latest" or "synchronize"works only for updating the main or host model, not for links. To reload linked models (I assume that you want it to update or bring new changes made on linked files to be visible in host model) this is the "official" workaround:
https://help.autodesk.com/view/RVT/2019/ENU/?guid=GUID-7BBF1C9A-BD64-4C1F-898D-0AE7682D0546
A shortcut: right click on link name directly on the project browser, then click on Reload.
Note: this works only on a single user local file, it won't propagate to central model or the rest of users via synchronize, anyone must do its own. Remember that Revit updates or reload all linked files automatically at any time a project is opened in session, reload is only needed when the project is open and in the meantime changes were made and saved/synchronized in links.
By your questions I'm assuming you have a file from out-of-house that you got an update for and need to reload it?
I usually have a Data In folder in the project i put all my contractor and client provided files in there. then in my working file i link from there. when i get new files form the contractor/consultant/client, i just overwrite the file in Data In. as long as the files are the same name, they should update in your project model without doing anything.
If you already have the files linked in... you can just select the link in the Manage Links, select the link and pick Reload From... .
