MITRE GUTTER EXISTING TO NEW CONSTRUCTION GUTTER

Hi all

I cannot seem to join this gutter up

the fascia is an existing house roof fascia and already mitred and was fine - I have to demolish one gutter and replace a new gutter on the drawings - so thats easy enough, but in placing the new gutter I cannot get it to mitre up - join tools and trim tools do not work on gutters

all the usual factors are considered and no the issue:

- fascias are lined up yes

- horizontal and vertical positions are not changed

- its an existing fascia and it was perfect before with a properly mitred gutter so none of this should matter

also Southern Hemisphere here we spell it Mitre so not sure if that's different in the North - Miter??

Cheers

Yeah. Someone else that knows how to spell Mitre.  We're a dying breed, buddy.

Post your file.

...did you try slowly dragging the blue grip while holding your breath method yet?

Check to see that the horizontal and vertical profile offsets match for both.

You cannot miter gutter segments under different phases.  There are some workarounds:

- Add a small return segment to gutter to be demolished.  Create new gutter with the same return and join new + existing.

- If you insist to demolish at the miter joint, add a small return segment to the new gutter and use a void to cut it at the miter joint.

I can.

...assuming that is what the OP is trying to do.  I didn't understand it that way.  But whatever.  He should be able to "phase" the miter (a.k.a. mitre).

Classic

I thought something was up when 0 search returns came up for Mitre

pretty sure I got all the matchings correct -

this probably brings up the point - an I force a mitre? regardless of matching etc. just make one?

cheers

I can't open your file right now, but use this workflow:

  • Create a Mitered 2 Gutter condition by creating each Gutter separately (e.g. not in the same session).
  • Clipboard Copy/Paste Aligned to Same Place the Mitered 2 Gutters
  • Change the Phase Created/ Phase Demolished for each Segment. Example: Gutter 1a = Existing/None, Gutter 1b = Existing/New Construction, Gutter 2a & 2b = New Construction/None.
  • Change View Phase Filter/Phase to Show Complete/New Construction
  • Use Add/Remove Segment tool to select eave @ 1a.
