Imported CAD showing extra elements

Hello all,

So this is probably and AutoCAD question too, but I am totally at a loss. I am trying to link a CAD file, and every time I do, extra elements show up. If I try to hide the layer that they are on, it hides many other parts as well. Here are the screen shots:

In AutoCAD, the layer of the other item that share the same layer is called "R-XRef" which is different than the layer called in Revit, which is "x_ELECTRICALPLAN$0$I-FURN".

I tried linking with the Layers/Levels set to Visible, but it is still showing this. I have attached the DWG if anyone has a chance to try and take a look too.

Any ideas?

There are a few things you can try.

1. Hide each individual item by moving your mouse over the object you want to hide and hit the TAB button. you can cycle around and once you have selected the element you want to hide right click and use the hide in view option and will hide that element. This is very tedious as you have to do it for every single item.

2. The second is by going into your visibility/Graphic Overrides, in the import categories tab, your CAD file should be there and you should be able to select the layers you want to turn off. You may have to go to the CAD file and move all of those weird items to a new layer that you can turn off in Revit just for those items.

Last time I used the feature frozen layers come through as visible, Revit doesn't respect that.

If you hide a layer that hosts a block then the block will be hidden and the visibility status of layers those blocks contain is irrelevant.

For that reason you would often burst (explode but respecting block attributes) the blocks in the dwg until there are none left. If you don't want to see the frozen layers you have to remove them from the original i.e. after removing all blocks turn off the visible layers unfreeze the frozen and delete them. You should also take the opportunity to remove any geometry a large distance away.

I don't see R-XRef renamed on my end.

Looks like you have XCLIP in your CAD file and Revit will not respect any xclipping xref object. You may want to explode, delete extra objects and then WBLOCK the CAD to new file.
