Missing element from a plan view!!

I guess this issue may have been discussed before, but i dont seem to find the solution to my proble.

here's the thing:

1. this element is not being showed on my view- (refrigerator)

I already reviewed everything on my view template, view range, graphic display, checked and unchecked everything repitedly, and nothing seems to work to get it showed.

Entering to the  REVEAL HIDDEN view, I can see the family!

There are many reasons that an element would not show up in a view.

The fact that the element is displayed when clicking the Reveal Hidden Elements command should narrow this down.

If you select the refrigerator when in the Reveal Hidden Elements mode, do you see an option to unhide it (e.g. Unhide Element or Unhide Category)?

In order to know exactly why your refrigerator isn't showing up I'd like to get a copy of your Revit file.  If possible, please send it to me at trey.klein@autodesk.com. 

Below are the ways (about 50 or so) that an element might "go missing."  I brainstormed these a few years ago for a Revit Tips & Tricks document at AU.  There are more ways now, for sure, and I've been meaning to update the list... but in the meantime you might find this list interesting!

Where’s My Chair Refrigerator?

This Tip is dedicated to the classic diabolical Revit Puzzler of the same name.  Here is a list of all of the typical ways we can think of why your chair (or whatever element you happen to be looking for) might not be visible in your Revit view.  If you can think of more good ones, please let us know! 

Visibility Graphics Overrides

• Element’s category or subcategory is unchecked in the VGO dialog
• Element is an import and Show Imported Categories in this View has been unchecked
• Element was imported with Current View Only checked, and you’re not in that view
• Element’s visibility is turned off by a View Filter
• Element is an import in a family, and visibility for Imports In Families has been unchecked
• Element is in a Workset that has been hidden in the view
• Element is in a Revit Link that has been hidden in the view
• Element is in a Link that has different By Linked View or Custom visibility settings
• Element or element’s category has its Projection Lines overridden to be white

 View Ranges and Crops

• Element is outside of the view’s View Range
• Element is above the Cut Plane in a plan view
• Element doesn’t fall within the view’s Far Clip Depth
• Element is partially outside the view’s Crop Region
• Element is constrained to a Scope Box that is not visible in the view
• Element is an annotation not residing completely within the Annotation Crop Region
• Element is a grid or section not perfectly perpendicular to the current view
• Element falls within the un-displayed portion of a View Region or Crop Region which has been split

 Families, Groups, Parts, and Assemblies

• Element is a family, with no geometry set to be visible in the view type
• Element is a family, with no geometry set to be visible in the detail level of the view
• Element is in a family and set to be not visible by a visibility parameter
• Element is in a group and has been excluded from the group
• Element is a Part, but view is set to Show Original
• Element is an Original, from which Parts have been made, but view is set to Show Parts
• Element is an Original, from which (orphan) Parts have been made, that has been deleted in a Link
• Element is an Original, from which (zombie) Parts have been made, in an Unloaded or Removed Link
• Element is a Part made from a floor at the level of the plan view
• Element is a Part which has been Excluded
• Element was not specifically added to the Assembly View you’re in

 Hidden Elements

• Element or category has Temporary Hide/Isolate applied
• Element or category is hidden via right-click > Hide in View
• Element or category has Is Visible unchecked in right-click > Override Graphics in View
• Element is a Mass and Show Mass Form and Floors has been turned off
• Element (such as a Section) is set to Hide At Scales Courser than
• Element has <Invisible Lines> linework placed on its edges
• Element’s Transparency has been set to 100%
• Element is being obscured by another element (model, annotation, etc)
• Element was visible in an Underlay that has been turned off
• Element or category has been overridden to match background color
• Element’s Object Style has been set to match the background color
• Element has been modified in view with the Edit Cut Profile tool
• Element is very far away from middle of view, on Zoom to Fit everything disappears

Worksets, Phases, Design Options, Disciplines

• Element is in a workset that is not loaded in the project
• Element is in a workset that is not visible in the view
• Element’s phase (in project or link) not visible in the phase of view
• Element is part of a Design Option that is not visible in the view
• Element not visible because of the view’s Discipline setting

Links

• Element is in a workset that is not loaded in a linked file
• Element is in a workset that is not visible in a linked file
• Element is in Project X, which is an overlay link in Project Y, which is linked into your project

Other

• Um, maybe you forgot to actually create the element? 🙂
• While meaning to hide an element in a view, perhaps someone instead deleted the element (or used Select All Instances in Project and deleted every instance of the element)

BONUS LIST:  Revit Visibility Hierarchy! 

In the following list, smaller numbers will override larger numbers:

1. Line Work Tool
2. Override Graphics in View > By Element > Halftone
3. Graphic Display Options > Silhouette Edges
4. Override Graphics in View > By Element
5. View Filters (VFs also have hierarchy within their VF list)
6. View Depth > “Beyond” Line Style
7. Phasing Graphic Overrides
8. Visibility Graphic Overrides > Override Host Layers > Cut Line Styles
9. Visibility Graphic Overrides > Projection or Cut Lines
10. Object Styles

Without seeing the file it is difficult to know exactly why something might not be visible. This troubleshooting topic give a number of things you can check:

I am not sure if "Discipline" of the view is listed on the checklist in the article but that could be something to check as well if it is not on the list.

Unhiding the element by Category could be related to a setting within the view template e.g. V/G overrides, View Filters, etc.

However, "Unhide Element" would not relate to the view template as that is an individual override applied to the element in the view.

When you reveal the hidden element and select it, can you confirm if you see Unhide Element or Unhide Category, and if so what happens when you click on them?

A screenshot or Screencast video could help in seeing what is going on.

Getting a copy of the would also help to look into why this is happening. If you don't want to attach to the thread (for everyone to see) you could send a link through a Private Message.

If you switch your View Template to Architectural Plan or even Plano arcquitectonico, the refrigerators will come back. The refrig family is OK - I can see it in a new project and even when I cut a section in your project.

Looking at the family, I can see that the geometry is composed of a DWG import.

The View Template applied to the view, is set to not display Imports in Families (Imported Categories tab of V/G Overrides):
