Mirroring Framing Groups - Not Flipping Correctly

I use model groups for my roofs if they are symmetric. This can drastically increase workflow and reduce errors. However, when modeling framing members, the model groups do not mirror correctly as you can see here:

Notice how the far side gable end framing member is rotated incorrectly. I have posted this in the sturctural forum, but unfortunately, we were not able to get a solution for using model groups in this manner. 

 

Here is another example where the members are not mirrored correctly. You can see the C channels are facing the same way. However, they should both be facing towards the ridge:

And lastly, you can see on the roof plan, the members are not flipped symmetrically about the ridge:

Again, I've posted this in the structural forums without any luck and I am hoping to get some answers here.

Mirroring Groups? That violates a commandment, I think.  

 

Okay, maybe not one of the Ten Commandments, but it does go against Best Practices.

Well it's hard to go back once you start doing it for symmetrical buildings. Creating and updating groups goes soooo much faster. I've done entire apartment buildings this way and its a game changer. The modeling is reduced to 1/4 and when you make changes you only have to update 1 group. I've been able to solve every issue I've come across, except this one.

I don't know how to respond. Does "sorry" work?  

 

As for grouping and mirroring structural framing, I can foresee problems.  Structural Framing Families are very intelligent in the Project. They can get fussy as is.

@BigPicture045 Hello, how did you manage to solve this issue? 
I noticed that when the beam is horizontal it can be buggy but changing the workplane "refreshes" the symmetry, while sloped beams wont mirror their section.

hi @BigPicture045 

It would definitely help if you could share the model so others can review it in detail, but based on the images you posted, it looks like the issue comes from using structural framing members inside a Model Group on a sloped roof. Structural members often do not mirror correctly when they are part of a group; this is a known limitation, especially with rotated or sloped geometry.
A practical and much more reliable approach is to use the Beam System tool for framing the sloped roof. If you enable the Non-Planar option, Revit will automatically place the beams according to the roof slope.
With this workflow, you get:
*Faster modeling
*Correct mirroring behavior
*No need to group sloped framing members
*Much easier editing and coordination

Yes I solved this by simply creating a new structure framing family. In my case it was a C shape, so easy to create. Once I made it, it worked like it should in terms of mirroring.

Can you do that for gables and hips and valleys etc. etc? I do not believe you can. A basic framing member is needed.
