Hi, when I select an element, the properties browser becomes half-ton and the delete command becomes inactive.

When you encounter an issue in Revit where the properties browser becomes dimmed (half-toned) and the delete command is inactive when selecting an element, it typically indicates that the element is part of a group or a linked model. Here are some steps to troubleshoot and resolve this issue:

  1. Check if the Element is Part of a Group:

    • If the element is part of a group, you cannot delete it directly. You need to edit the group first.
    • To do this, select the group, then click on "Edit Group" in the ribbon. Once in the group edit mode, you can delete the element.
  2. Check if the Element is in a Linked Model:

    • If the element is part of a linked model, you cannot delete it from the host model.
    • You need to open the linked model separately and make the changes there.
  3. Check Worksets:

    • Ensure that the element is not on a workset that is not editable. You might need to make the workset editable to modify or delete the element.
  4. Check Permissions:

    • If you are working in a workshared environment, ensure you have the necessary permissions to modify or delete the element.
  5. Check for Design Options:

    • If the element is part of a design option, you need to be in the correct design option to modify or delete it.
  6. Check for Phasing:

    • Ensure that the element is not in a different phase that is currently not editable.

Half of the things your "AI tool" listed wouldn't have anything to do with this... If you're going to use AI, at least check over the results it gives you.

Considering EVERYTHING is grayed out, this wouldn't be a group issue. Phasing and Design Options don't limit the ability to modify something, though design options can impact the ability to select things unless you uncheck "Exclude Options."

My guess is that its a linked model. If not that, then check worksets.

You are selecting a shared family nested in another family.

AI used to be quite good.  Now they just generate a lot of noises, my guess they have been learning from garbage sources.

That's a door in a linked model; hence the properties are locked/grayed out. You need to open the linked model to edit its properties
