Microsoft Surface Book Revit 2014, 2015 & 2016 problems

Is anyone using the new Microsoft Surface Book with I7 processor and 16 GB RAM? I was able to install three versions of Revit (2014, 2015 & 2016).

The problem is that all versions of Revit flicker and hangup while trying to use it. It seems like a graphics driver issue with just Revit.

AutoCAD 2016 works fine.

Revit 2016 seems to be working fine for me. I turned the screen resolution down to 1680x1050, and set the scaling to 100%.

Thanks for the information, that worked perfectly for me too.

Worked like a champ for me on the Surface Book Pro 4 (i7 version).  Be sure to log out and log back in after changing the display scaling to 150%.  this frustrated me for 24 hours until i saw the (quite literally) very fine print.  I am running native resolution and 150% scaling now with ZERO issues.  Finally happy.

I have the same problem also.

I have the surfacebook, 16GB, 512 gig and Revit 2016 does exactly the same as noted.

Using the fabrication elements for revit also hangs the PC.

The other main issue is the size of the icons for Autocad on the surface book...They are tiny.

Any ideas??

I will check the screen scaling and see if this helps fix the Revit flickering

Cheers

Checked my surface book scaling to 150%. No issues now. Flickering all gone and i can use the software fine. So far....
Autocad toolbars are still very small but maybe a SP will fix this.......

has anyone figure out how to get the quick access toolbar to work?  My Surface Pro 4 is working fine with the display at 150% but there are still some minor graphical problems.  It would be nice to have the quick access toolbar but it's not visible currently.

What version are you using?  I found that they were invisible in 2014, but still worked and a pop up would show up if you hovered over them.  On 2016, mine showed up fine.

In Revit 2016 I do not have a quick access toolbar either... (the one next to the boxed R at the top left hand corner)

This is very handy to have so if anyone knows how we get this back please post

I think this is a display issue - the toolbar is still there you just can't see it, but you can click on it.  When Revit opens it should flash up and then vanish, if you click on where the dropdown menu on the end 'should' be you can move it below the ribbon and it should be fine there.

Thanks for all the feed back to my origianl post.

I now have revit Navis and FABMEP running reasonably well on my surfacebook 4.

The quick tools toolbar suggestion worked but you have to follow the instructions.

hoverover the area where this usually is, click your mouse button and a dialogue box comes up asking where you want it docked.

I selected to dock this on the ribbon. All good

I am currently experiencing flickering and display issues with the Surface Pro 4 16gb i7 model using Revit 2015 & 16.

Still trying adjustments but so far nothing has resolved the issues.

Did you set the screen scaling to 150%? Without that my screen was flickering as well.

I have the identical Surface pro 4 i7 16GB

however the icons show on mine so we must be close.

thanks for the tips.

Just turn down the windows display normally defaulted at 200% turn down to 150%, it will ask you to sign out so the settings can take effect upon re sign on. I tried that from advicefrom others listed members here and it works like a charm. I have a surface 512 GB, i7 processor Surface Book 16GB RAM

Move your quick access toolbar below the ribbon ( where it should be by default imho)and you'll be fine.

We are having the same issues with a new Surface Pro Book 4 purchase as well. I am trying all the settting changes discussed with this conversation with no complete fixes.  We are still having flickering issues and some missing features from the menu bars.  We are using dual miini-HDMI to VGA connection from the docking station, have yet to try going directly from the single mini-HDMI port off the S-P-Book itself to another monitor. The video problem is apparent just on the S-P-Book itself.

I have my Surface book connected to the docking station with two external monitors. I found the best settings for me is to set the surface book screen to 1440x900, and my two external screens are set to 1920x1080. All scaling is set to 100%. (this makes everything match visually across all three monitors). Revit runs great on any of the three screens. When I disconnect from the docking station the Surface book reverts back to the original resolution/scaling. As mentioned in earlier posts make sure the scaling is set to 150%. A nice feature of the surface book (or maybe Windows 10) is that it will remember your display settings for both situations and switch back and forth accordingly. I have found one issue is that if Revit is running with connecting/disconnecting from the docking station. It doesn't handle the change to the scaling properly. I found it best to quit and restart Revit. I attached a screenshot of my setup. Hope that Helps.

Jeff,

I tried your solution (set the Surface Book screen to 1440x900, external screens to 1920x1080 and all scaling set to 100%) and everything works now!  Even some of my other programs are displaying much better.  Thank you so much.
