Metric Site Family

Hi Everyone, Just a quick one searching high and low to see what this revit family template would be used for. Metric Site Family Template...Not much information on both revit documentation or online. Has anyone got any ideas what this is used for?  Cheers

Use it for how you see fit.  As more of an organizational thing.  The stock Revit Content Library has Parking stripes that use the Site Category, but whether or not the Site RFT was the original Template is hard to know, because you can recategorize Families.  Betcha most of the stock Revit Site Families, as well as Site Families found on-site, didn't originate from the Site RFT, but were recategorized afterwards to Site Category.

Now that there are hardscape, I use it slightly less than before but still a valid category for me.
I put flagpoles, carpet racks, swings, etc. Miscellaneous stuff that is laying around the site to control them in VG.

Okay, that explains it. I suppose maybe with use within navisworks it has its place (eg machinery, cranes, heras fencing etc). I was trying to put electric meters and gas meter families into housing models which were then linked multiple times into a site layout model, but then turn off individual gas meters within each individual linked instance (Some housetypes required gas meters whilst others didn’t on the site). Someone recommended in setting the gas and electric meter to a metric site family so it could be individually controlled (but I don’t think this has worked).

Wheel curbs, bollards, barriers, bike stands/racks... to name a few.
