problem with linear light track with array

Hi All,

I've never seen an array behave like this before. It seems to be impossible to align the array of light heads in the vertical direction.  File and video attached.

Regards,

James

Before repeating elements in an array, the first and last elements need to be constrained, ideally in 3 different planes, so that they don't deviate in any direction. I recommend you to watch this video, approximately from minute 10 to minute 25:

Geez Louise! I share your frustration! I threw in the towel by nesting the track head into a face-based family template, then nesting the FB family into the host track family and putting one instance on the under face of the housing.  Then I arrayed it.  Works like a charm as you can see here:

Yeah, that was a bear.  I finally was able to solve it too, but just a bit differently.  I modified the nested fixture to non-workplane based and positioned the light geometry under the reference plane.  After I loaded the light fixture back into the track family, I was able to lock the light to a reference plane and everything worked.  It sure seems that workplane-based families sometimes don't play nice with arrays!
