Menu Bar dissappearing

In Revit 2017.2.3, the menu bar has started disappearing occasionally but frequently. There does not appear to be any tool or option to turn the menu bar back on. The only workaround I have found is to close Revit and restart. Shortly after the last time this happened, Revit closed and sent a report to Autodesk.

Anyone else having this problem?

Thanks,

Jeff

What is a menu bar?

The Menu Bar is the the gray bar above the ribbon with File and other pull-downs.

I'm still confused. The menu "pull down" with the file, etc. is at the application button (big R) and beside that is the QAT (Quick Access Toolbar) which is customizable.

Rob,

The menu bar that is disappearing is in between the QAT and the ribbon. It is to the right of the big R app button. All the Menu Bar tabs are pull down menus. I mistakenly said "file" in my first post which probably caused your confusion. I should have said Architecture, Structure, etc.

Thanks,

Jeff

You're talking about the ribbon tabs which can be set as "pull downs". I have seen them, along with the entire ribbon, disappear, especially on lower end workstations. Not sure of the cause, but cleaning up temp files and other computer maintenance tasks sometimes helps.

Hi Rob,

The Menu Bar is not really pull downs, but each title opens a contextual ribbon. I think the confusion is my calling it the Menu Bar rather than Ribbon Tabs. When you cycle thru the ribbon options, the gray "Ribbon Tabs Bar" stays constant. There is no option or command to turn on these tabs when they disappear, they are supposed to be on all the time. There is no way to access the different ribbons without these tabs. The Ribbon Tab Bar disappearing is a reoccurring problem and the only way I have found to restore it is to close and restart Revit. I don't think this is related to temp files.

Thanks,

Jeff

I was using your words, dude.

Not directly. From what I've seen, higher end machines do not have this problem. That is why computer maintenance and performance tweaks could help resolve the issue. I don't think it is a Revit problem.

You can toggle using that button for menu bar...

if that doesn't work then probably its a graphics card issue..

I have the same problem... happenned just a few minutes ago... been a couple of month since last time it ocured ...

Me and my collegues have all the same hardware, but it happens just to me...

Our support team changed my graphics card a couple of times.. but it keeps happening...

I also used the toggle icon but only the ribbons reapears, not the "sections/categories" (Architecture, Structure, etc..)

Whats just plain crazy / stupid, my coworker told me to minimize the window (the (-) Windows icon, 3rd icon from top right of the screen) and then get it back by clicking the software on the bottom "Quickstart" Windows menu and it corrected the problem... everything visible as it should be...

When it happens, it's mostly if i open a pdf file on Adobe Acrobat DC...

It must be a glitch between the 2 programs, because my hardware is better than the "middle requirements" suggested by Autodesk...
