Materials cannot be displayed on free-form surface models.

I am trying to input data such as "Material" into a free-form surface model in Revit family.
In order to input "material" into free-form surface models created by multiple software such as Inventor, I did the following.

I created a "Family Type" > "Materials and Finishes" and selected the material I wanted to display (cherry).

At result, the cherry wood grain does not show up and only a single color is displayed.

If there is a solution to this problem, please tell me how to do it?

A file of the free-surface model will be sent to you.

I'll do my best, so thank you in advance for working with me.

@akira

  • Normally you would set material by layers but considering the surface you have from inventor, Explode object >> Select surface >>> Associate Material Parameter
  • The cherry grain will show when you switch view to realistic mode

See GIF below

You can also go to import>object styles and then add material.
