I'm looking at your screencast and your rvt file...I don't see where the problem is. What am I missing?

BTW - I did change one of your walls to a violent pink with a different brick pattern

To change tint - Manage tab>> Materials

1) Capture.JPG

To actually change the material -

2) Capture.JPG

To change the appearance of the actual material -

Capture.JPG

Any further tweaking would need to be done in the image itself, using possibly Photoshop.

Thanks Rina,

The problem lies in the fact that the tint does not show and when I try to change the brick pattern to herringbone or something else it does not show either. the brick pattern always shows as "brick common" and nothing else.

There are surface pattern for hidden and shaded view and appearance pattern for rendering. You have to change both.

it is very important that you take a look at my screencast and you will see what i mean.   i am trying to use Paul Aubin's tutorials on how to change materials. When I use this particular file, the instructions do not seem to work but when I open up a new file everything works fine. when i check off the tint tab it does not show.

So - from what you are saying - you cannot replicate this issue in another project? Is that correct? Only this one project - which I am having no issues with whatsoever.

@ToanDN: Help me out here please. Would you check out the rvt file and verify that I'm not crazy here.

edit...I'll say this: opening that file caused Revit roll-back my driver! Had to close-out of Revit and update my video driver through device mgr.

Are you changing the actual material, or are you making the change I had shown in my first screenshot? Once again, I was able to change materials in your model with no problem....at the bottom of my screenshots you can see my lovely bright pink wall....

If you change the material itself - did you check the Use Render Appearance box?

Thanks for sharing that little nugget, @Sahay_R. I feel better knowing that you had no problems with the file either.

@barthbradley Always glad to entertain! I hope you didn't miss the bit about the lovely pink wall. Violently pink would be a better way to put it.....

thanks! i don't think i am making much sense here. to change the tint please click on the tint box instead (it's on the bottom under appearance). please try to change the masonry to flemish cross. whenever i change the masonry to anything else it always reverts back to brick common.

i am not having problems with changing the colours. rather i would like to know why the tine box does not work and why my masonry always reverts back to brick common.

@barthbradley  I opened the Revit file just fine.

@Anonymous  Tint color works best if the texture image is in grey scale.
