Material Colour Overriding Gradient in Sphere

I have a sphere that I use for planting plans. I would like to give it multiple colors for various reasons.

When I try to apply the gradient, it works only for a quarter of the sphere, and the rest remains the color that is specified above the gradient. Suggestions appreciated.

What about another shape (e.g. Gradient Type)?

Thanks for the response. The different shapes didn't work.

I found that tiling the material both horizontally and vertically solved the issue of full coverage, however the scale needs to match the size of the sphere, which is a bit tedious.
