making a text instance parameter open a text box

I haven't a clue how a colleague's done this, and asking them they don't recollect themselves. But typically. If a sheet or a family or generic annotation has a instance text parameter. You click it and you can edit the text in place where the label appears in the family. 

Something I've never seen before. My colleague had made a text box appear when clicking the instance text parameter. We want to replicate this in other areas but hitting brick walls with how it was done. Any help or pointers in the potential right direction would be greatly appreciated.

Is it possible that it is a model text? I only see the edit text dialog when creating or editing a model text.

Create the parameter as a Mutiline Text parameter.

thanks. honesty never noticed or questioned that parameter type before. If I wanted text I'd instinctively go straight to text. Handy to now know though 🙂
