Make a nested detail item in a family cut with voids

Hi,

So I've created a structural framing family. I nested a detail item (separate family) in my main family to accentuate types in my lay-out plans.

What I can't seem to acchieve is to let the nested detail item be cut by a void.

I've linked the family in my post.

Can somebody help me out please.

Thanks

You have a latest Revit versions which I can't open to check it. Can you upload photos to describe what you would like to do?

Hi...your question is quite clear and the answer is simple no real need to check the family

  1. You cannot cut a Detail Item with a Void.
  2. Voids cut geometries and Detail items has no geometry. They are 2D lines and patterns

If the void cuts are more or less standard rectangular or circular cuts, what you can do is incorporate a Masking Region in the void cut family so that when it cute other elements it masks over them
