Locking Dimensions

Can anybody tell me what happened to my lock icon?  It is not there and I can not lock the size of my building so I can adjust dimensions on the interior.

Welcome to the forum.

If you click on a dimension, you don't see the lock icon below the dimension line?

There doesn't happen to be a global parameter assigned.  That will make the dimension not have a lock symbol to click.

No that locking symbol is not showing up.  It used to appear for me but when I have started this next set of drawings, it is gone.  I did not know if there was a way that it could get turned off and I had accidentally done something.

Where would a global parameter be located?  I've looked around and I have not really seen anything that has caught my eye.

If you click the dimension you will notice a labels option comes up in the Options bar (version 2016), Revit 2017 it's in the modify dimension panel.  If this is set to "none" then no global parameter is assigned.  My image above shows what it looks like in 2016.

The label is set to none.  When I click the dimension line to leave the dimension on the screen, that is when the lock symbol is shown, but not when I first place the walls, there is no lock symbol.

I think your talking about the listening dimension when placing elements.  They help in the placement but aren't permanent until you make them.  Here is a link https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/revit-products/learn-explore/caas/CloudHelp/cloudhelp/2015/EN...

Yes and I am supposed to be able to lock those in a constraint so they do not move when trying to change the dimensions of other walls. I have done this before so I know that I can do it, I just need to know why I cannot do it anymore.

Just make the dimension permanent first by clicking the symbol in the screen shot below.  This will give you the ability to add the lock once the dimension is selected.
