Linked Revit Model Not Showing Modeled Elements Unless in Linked View

I came across an odd problem I've never seen before. I have a model from our consultant designing our central hot water plant. When I link it in, only their levels are visible (the model elements are not). When I set the view to 'By Linked View' however, the model elements appear. At first I thought it was a nested link perhaps, but I went into thier model and it was all modeled with pretty basic elements (Pipes, Plumbing Equipment, Walls, Doors, etc.). There were no worksets hiding elements, no nested links, nothing seemed off to me.

Any thoughts on what would cause a model to not be visible when linked, but visible when linked view is turned on?

Are those element categories hidden in your views visibility/graphics overrides or view template? That's my guess if they show when you switch the display settings to By linked view.

Pipe will be single line unless the view is set to Fine or that category is assigned to Fine. Where is there model relative to the origin of the model? Is it possible that their model is just off in the distance? If their elements are assigned a workset that is the same name as your own model and that workset is close or turned off in the view then their elements would be "off" too. What do you see if you link your model to theirs? Are their elements assigned to a different phase or are design options being used?

@mhiserZFHXS The categories are on in visibility graphics. I can see our doors and walls. Plumbing and Piping categories are also on

@SteveKStafford Their model is not workshared, so there is no workset at all. Plus all worksets are visible in our model. There are also no design options in their model either, but good suggestion, I didn't think to check that. Lastly, when we link ours into theirs, I can see our elements just fine.

Phase Mapping of the link coordinated with the phases of your model?

That was it! Thank you so much. It looks like the team had deleted the default phases and it messed up the mapping. There are 101 places to check when something is not visible. It makes me feel like I'm going insane sometimes. Thanks guys!
