Linked Mechanical Model - Can't Change Colors

I am having issues changing the colors of my linked mechanical model.  I have attached an image of the linked mechanical file, (Attached "Mech Linked Model")

Some things I have tried:

1. In the Visibility Graphics I changed the settings in the linked model tab (see attached "Visibility Graphics Linked Model Settings")

2. I have tried changing the settings in my main model and tried telling the linked model to use those settings

3. I have tried using a Filter

4. I have tried changing the settings and colors in the object styles dialog box

I have gotten it to work when I hit "Apply", but as soon as I hit "ok" the get out of dialog box it goes right back to being colored. (see attached "Dialog box open"

I have run out of ideas on how to override these colors. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

This sound identical to the behavior I get when something is above the element I'm editing. Is another element on top of it; in the foreground of the view?

I selected the link and isolated the element.  So there shouldn't be.

Category override doesn't work but View Filter does.

I had tried Filters previously, but must have had something set up incorrectly.  It worked this time!

Thank you

Hi!

I've encountered a similar issue, where custom graphic overrides applied to linked model categories were accepted after hitting "apply", but once we select "OK" to close the visibility graphics dialog box, the changes are reversed.

The filters solution worked, which is great, but I really want to understand why the custom graphic overrides to linked model categories weren't working to begin with!

Is there some graphic setting (aside from filters) that would take precedence over custom linked model category overrides?  I'm quite perplexed by how the overrides seem to be applied, only to revert when the VG dialog box is closed...
