Nested Window Panel not cutting.....

Hi Folks,

I have a nested window panel family hosted in a large window.  The large window cuts fine.  The nested window panel does not cut.

I've made sure they are both "shared" families.  They are both the "window" family type.  The window panel has "joined" geometry.

Cut what?  The host wall?  Does the nested window have a Opening Cut or a Void?

Yes, to clarify:

In plan view in my .rvt file.  The hosting family is visibly cut at the 4'-0" height (set by my view range in plan).  The nested window panel in the host family is not graphically cut at all.  it looks like a top view of the window panel, not a plan section.

Sorry, I'm not talking about opening cuts or voids.  I'm talking about visual graphics issues.

Adjust the cut plane in the family. I know that sounds weird, but try it.

Here; I found this for you. There's plenty of others that speak about this Revit quirk.  Especially useful info to know when you get into windows representations as legend components.

Thanks, that got me halfway there!

It's deciding to cut most of the sweeps and extrusion, except one, which it refuses to cut.  If I move it outward, it somehow magically appears (as though it were hidden under something, it's definitely not).  I've tinkered with the nested panel's view range, AND the nested panel appears right on it's own.  I just can't get the nested panel to look correct in the host family.

driving me mad.

Hard to know what I'm looking at in your screenshots, or how to troubleshoot. My first thought is superfluous "Is Reference" Ref. Planes in the family. Best to post the file.

Here's the family.

I tried adjusting the sketch line for the sweep, makes no difference - like somehow the sweep is trapped under something.

What am I looking for? I don't readily see anything wrong.

..."Hinge Offset"? This is the only thing I see that controls the location of the sweep. A Type Parameter.

I changed it to Generic Model and now the outer frame disappeared in the host family plan view.

This is a window panel, I want it to cut all the extrusions/sweeps so they are visible as they should be in plan and details.  It's just cutting SOME of the extrusions (seemingly randomly).  All of them are there and are modeled and are parametric and physically correct... when I cut a horizontal section (such as a plan or horizontal section detail) I should be able to see all of this.

Such is (should be) the beauty of documenting details in Revit.

Your Visibility in Plan View is turned off in the nested family.

Attached is a similar example - steel window frame, glazing putty, glass.  Three main elements to a steel window, I want them all to show up.  Steel, Putty, Glass
