Lineweight override of Reveals

Anonymous

This is a post I assume will garner no real answer (as there doesn't appear to be one), but would someone at Autodesk please (PLEASE) find a way to prioritize global lineweight control of reveals in elevation?

I don't have the time, energy, or budget to override these one line segment at a time for every single view they appear in. There are AUGI post back to 2007 requesting this functionality. I beg of you.

Well, it's 2023 and this obvious feature is still not implemented. I guess Reveals need to appear twice as dark on my elevation as my actual wall outline.

It's worse because the reveals consist of two lines making them look almost twice as thick as the entire solid shape of the wall. It's ridiculous that Autodesk doesn't fix this.

This is apparently too difficult of a task for the Autodesk developers to tackle.
When the reveal shows up thicker than the actual wall outline, and I have to manually selecting each and every reveal line (2 lines per reveal) that I just placed and adjust the linework, that means the wall reveal tool is worthless.  Autodesk might as well just remove it from the Revit features.
Better just to create a linetype for reveals and use model lines.

@Anonymous.wendycan - Any chance you could promote this idea. Until Revit gives us the ability to model profiled cladding and roofing (like the other leading software suite...), we are pretty limited to various work arounds to achieve some pretty basic outcomes. The ability to control reveal lineweights should be easy for Autodesk to implement and would make life easier for it's users.

I stumbled upon this thread after having a similar issue with reveals on my elevations, the lineweight was simply too thick. As others have pointed out, it's due to the reveal cuts creating new edges on the walls.

The solution I found for our use, which I suspect does not resolve the main issue, is that there was a graphic override on the wall silhouettes. (VG Overrides > Model Display > Silhouette drop down menu) For some reason our View Template was using a thicker line weight for the silhouette and that was affecting the reveal "cut" line weight. Setting it to <none> should use the thinnest line weight for your elevation.

If you still care about having a silhouette on your walls: don't bother overriding the wall projection lines in your template, the same override will affect the areas with reveals. Instead, use the "Linework" tool to individually override the edges of your walls instead of letting Revit do it for you since it goes overboard and applies that silhouette rule to reveals. Even if it's tedious it's much easier than going around and overriding all the cuts made by reveals especially if there are a high number of them.

Again, not resolving the core issue by OP but this is the workaround I found.
