trying to model in place a trim board. when printing, it prints very dark at edges. how can i change the line weight to print lighter?
You can change the Projection and Cut Line Weights of the Model Category itself through Object Styles. Turn OFF Thin Lines (TL) so you can see how it will look when printed.
Go to Manage Tab=>Additonal Properites=>Line Weights to see what the pen wieghts (thicknesses) are for each view scale.

Thanks for sharing that nugget of info.
set Silhouettes to "none" (under Graphic Display Overrides).
Create subcategories under the model in place category. Edit your in place model and assign subcategories to elements and linework. Define line weights for the subcategories via Object styles. Override them via VG if you want to deviate them from object styles
Bingo… just figured that out. Thanks for the confirmation.
Didn’t mean to offend was a little frustrated here. When you model in place and select a category the line weight assigned to that category in object styles is set. There is no way to change the category of the modeled in place element once selected when modeling. I just realized I could create a sub-category and assign a line weight as you describe.
Thanks again.
I followed the instructions in this thread and made a subcategory "Foundation Pier". I change its cut line and it only changes the top line. How do I change all the cut lines in this model in place generic model in section?
I'd rather not guess. Post the file (rvt) and I'll tell you exactly what's going on.
Edit the model in place, select the 3d element and assign it to the subcategory. If it is 2d lines or 2d regions, select the lines or the regions sketch lines and assign them to the subcategory cut or projection lines.
The work is no different than for loadable families.
All of sudden changing the object styles cut line works after opening the model today (which you can see in my previous image didn't work). Revit 2025 appears to have many glitches.

Why don't you use tapered wall?
