Line Based family offsetting when placed in plan view

Hello,

I have a line based void family that is not cooperating. When I got to place the family in a plan or elevation view using the "Line" tool, the family is offsetting from the line I am drawing by a small amount.

If I use the "Pick Line" tool I have no problems.

Anyone have any Ideas?

Screencast and family attached.

The offset is set to 0 and the family is offseting from the line that is drawn. I do not want that to happen.

Are you sure?  Post the Project itself. I got to test this myself.

...I can't replicate. Try setting a Work Plane first.

Hi,

Strange yes, if placing the family (any linebased family) from place on face it just won't take the endpoint, even if forced to endpoint snap....just places the startpoint near the point specified....

If you first set the plane, and place it by "Place on workplane" the endpoint snaps work.

Never had the need for this, has always been like this?

I don't understand what you are trying to tell me, @TripleM-Dev.net, but I have no issues, "Offset" or otherwise,  with the OP's Family.  If you are saying that there is a right way and wrong way to do it, I wouldn't disagree.  That's the case with everything.

It works fine if you use the "Place on Work Plane" placement. When I use the "Place on Face" placement in a plan view, it snaps to the point I select but when it actually places the element I get the offset.

I was testing it in a default project so there wouldn't be much to send.

Setting the work plane and "Place on Work Plane" works.

Thanks for the help.
