Levels not showing in Elevation

Anonymous

Hi there,

I'm currently working on a project in Revit 2019.2 when I saw something strange happening in my project.

In my south and north elevation my levels are showing like they are supposed too. But when I switch to my east and west elevation they are not showing at all, while they use the exact same viewtemplate. I read a number of posts on levels not showing and tried every posible soulution but none of them are working. It's not in my V/G settings, neither is it my scope box, crop view or far clip offset. The levels are not hidden even the 3D extends are set right.

I even tried to create a new/duplicate view and view template. Audited my Revit file.

Create a level in that view, select it, SA, right click, maximize 3D extent.

Check on a section or elevation view that the levels actually extend into your view.

The 3D extends are already maximized, something else I forgot to mention; the levels and grids workset is also set properly so thats not the problem either.

Go to a plan view and find the relevant elevation marker.  Draw a section facing the same way in the same position and see if you see the levels in the section.  If not, the levels don't extend that far.  Adjust them so that they do.

If you can see them, then something in the view is hiding them.  Also check that the level lines have not been over-ridden in the view, or that the view has no filters that are hiding it.

I tried, what you said and the levels do not appear in the section. So I extended my levels so that they would without any doubt cross my elevation but even then they did not show. They are also not hidden or filterd by any setting in de viewtemplate. I made a clean new template from scratch to check that.

2 things I would check.

  1. Does the extents of the level line intersect the projection plane of the elevation view? Maximized 3d extents is not enough. You need to be sure the 3d extents actually intersect the projection plane of the elevation view.
  2. Is a scope box applied to the elevation view?  If you have that assigned, it might be the culprit for hiding the levels.

1. Yes I checked this the level line did intersect the elevation view, by 25 meters or so.

2. A scope was applied, but removing it did not influence the behaviour of the levels in my elevation view.

Just extending the line might not be enough. Yu need to make sure you are extending the 3D extents of the level, not the 2d extents of the level.  When you are extending the line, make sure the dot/grip at the end of the line says 3D and is hollow.

Try and find (or draw) a section that in perpendicular to the new section that you created, where you can see the new section.  Check if the levels extend past that section.

.. just thought I'd ask...  are your levels included in the view template?

Another thing to try:

Create a new scope box that extends past the elevations and apply that to the view.

You are probably aware, but note that the position of the marker does not indicate it's extents - the attached views extents are behind the elevation marker.
