Level value issue for Linked model with multiple shared sites

Hello,

I'm modeling a condominium with 11 apartment building that are exactly the same. I have a Project file for the building with a Shared Location for every time (instance of link) the building is linked on the host project (the site plan with the 11 builgings). My coordinates are fine (or that appearts to me).

The issue is that I need to create four elevations and a pair of sections views for the site plan (with the whole set of building that are visibley from that section/elevation); and I have to show the current height of every building level referencing the project base point, but all the linked level display with the same elevation (the internal or shared site elevation that is active on the linked project) in spite of the level annotation is set to "Survey Point" (both in the link and in the host project).

There is something I'm doing wrong or there is a limitation with Revit? Any workaround suggested?

I can archive what I want with Spot Elevations in the host project and hidding the Levels for the links, but for 11 links in 6 views it would be a time consuming task, besides it's a very dumb way to work on BIM.

Here is some graphics examples, I recreate the situation with more simplest models (because it happends to me every time, on every project I try):

Hi ,

From my experience within Revit coordinate system , your mentioned attitude is the way of Revit dealing with such cases and nothing wrong you had done.

Revit is respecting and taking in consideration what you are making "current location" at " the apartment building" and this z-value that appear to you (level) when linking the building file in the "Site file" will change as per the location you choose at the "building file".

I.e.: (check the attached Printscreens)

if you choose location 1 at the "Building file" to be current location

therefore at the "Site" File all your copies of the link will read the values (just the numbers)  of location 1 .

if you choose location 2 at the "Building file" to be current location

therefore at the "Site" File all your copies of the link will read the values (just the numbers)  of location 2.

Work around :

* To hide the levels from the link and create your own levels at the host file  (all the levels needed to the 11 apartment building) or use Spot Elevations in the host project.

From Revit point of view:

* How come the same level at the same building (the same source file) read more than value !

Hope this can help.

Thanks,

For me it's ok to show only the elevation that is reflected on the model if you override the link by linked view, but not when is defined by host view.

Anyway I think I should admit to showing the height corresponding to each instance located on the host. I going to post this to the Idea Forum.

Why don't you copy monitor the levels from the links to the site model and use them for the master elevations and sections?

@ToanDN Thanks!

It works, but only with one level of the same name at time.

E. g., if my links are multiple instances of the same project, and because that all the links have the same name for similar levels, I can Copy/Monitor one Level named "Level 1", but when I try to Copy/Monitor another level named "Level 1" for other link, the first one disappear on my view. But if I try to change the name of one Copied/Monitored level all levels on other links change their names (expected behavior). There is a way for view multiple levels of the same name with copy/monitor ?

You cannot have levels with the same name. But you can add prefix or suffix to them under the copy monitor option.
