Not being a structural guy, what component is this tagging?

Tag leaders by default snap to the bounding box of the geometry, relative to the project, so a rotated family doesn't result in a 'tight' tag. 

So yeah, either manual adjustment using the 'free end' leader option, or Dynamo to do the same, given you have some consistent logic to work with (Dynamo can do object-oriented bounding boxes, so that might actually work out better even without having your own placement logic).

Another problem that is bothering me, is that when I use tag all, tags are placed over each other, making them unreadable. I tried to use tag alignment tools, but most of the time, still manual adjustment is needed. Very time consuming …
