My granddaughter a soon to be interior design student needs to buy a laptop for college.  I've looked at the Autodesk requirements for Revit 2020 and would ask here for more a 'specific' description of a budget priced config.

Also, as this will not be used in a network setting will she need to opt for Win 10 Pro can she effectively get by with Win 10 Home.

To answer your Windows version question, Windows 10 Home is fine.

Appreciate you taking the time to post this link.  As we are aware of Autodesk's Revit requirements I was hoping that system config would be provided, i.e. min CPU reqmt RAM we are going with their Balanced system of 16GB I would add an SSD. not sure if as a student at this point she would need to have a dedicated graphics card etc.

"minimum" means your student will be sitting around waiting on the system to catch up. A lot of the time. Avoid it, "minimum" is in place to satisfy the marketing department's need to lie about how cheap a system you need to run REVIT 🙂

"balanced" is what most of us would call the average configuration that satisfies most needs of most users and should be good enough for your starting student. Don't skimp on any portion for the 'balanced' section.

Definitely what they list as "performance". Also having a large monitor(s) is important.

unless the user has a lot of patience....

Keep in mind while working you also have PDF, spreadsheets, browser etc. open.
