Keynotes that pull Mark value

Is it possible to create a Keynote that will pull it's value from the Mark of an Instance, rather than from the Keynote of the Type? I am in the fabrication industry, and have many like-types that I would prefer have a different keynote value depending on their use/placement in a building assembly.

That's pretty much what User Keynotes are for.

I am currently using User keynotes, but they are not smart enough to change when my Keynote .txt file changes, making them equally as useful (useless) as a category tag, nor are they schedulable like Mark

Have you try using Schedule key? It is much more flexible than using Keynoting. Keynoting is very limiting. It only has two values to pull from.

I don't think this option has the power I need. I'd like to schedule types/lengths/counts AND keynote structural steel members with the same annotation tool. Ideally, utilizing spreadsheets/tab delimited text outside of Revit for material ordering, fabrication process organization, etc. Keynotes are close, they just don't pull from a useful parameter.
