Hi,

I have a very similar issue but with a NVIDIA 1060, and I was not able to get a suitable solution:

https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/revit-architecture-forum/whole-screen-flickers-while-rendering-with-r...

Sometimes the crash even made the whole computer to reboot. I am going to switch to an AMD card.

Regards,

Hate to tell you this....but your laptop isn't going to work well with Revit.  Period.  That Intel video card is great for documents and maybe some general dwg modifications, but Revit is going to keep crashing.  You need a laptop with a Quadro or GTX card (if Nvidia) or a decent AMD card.

If perhaps you do have one of those cards....follow the link that @Anonymous gave ya and there is a link on that page to disable the Intel card, as Revit can't switch from one card to another.  Mainly this one: https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/hardware/disabling-nvidia-optimus-amp-perform-clean-install/td-p/4363279

thanks for the answer guys, but it seems that i cant resolve the problem whith the nvidia guides...bcs, if i disavle intel card, what do i use ??

it seems that the problem is only with 2017 version of revit, even the 2017.1.1 update wont work, with the 2016 i hednt this issue...

i noticed that when i open the material property a program called "adpreviewgenerator.exe"is launched, and a couple a seconds after this pc blinks and than crash the video driver...

googleing it somebody say that revit and notebook are usin on the same time the 3d accelerator, and the solution might be disable the accelerator....but mine wont let me do it...its grayed out :))

i know that the thinkpad isnt a "tough" one laptop...but it nevere had problems with the 2016 ...why 2017 ??and anybody know how to disable the 3d accelerator ?

i post a screenshot of it

thanks guys in advance

Thank you for your post.  It looks like you are crashing in Revit 2017 when attempting to access material browser.  According to the journal file attached (thank you) the issue is linked to your unsupported graphics card (listed below from the journal and the crashes).  This Intel onboard card will not be able to successfully process the information or graphical relay.  Ultimately, the graphics system will need to be upgraded to avoid further conflict in design, using one of our supported cards from the list below.  Please let us know if this helped and if there are any questions.  Thank you and we look forward to your reply.

Well you really cannot upgrade the laptop . The other thing I am noticing is that
[00001ce8]DBG_INFO: Invalid path detected in file exists task: C:/Program Files (x86)/Common Files/Autodesk Shared/Materials/Textures/\Environments\SunAndSky\Presets\3\adp:?asset=\F23C9EA6-A532-4DD9-BCF4-B05DA7E40FFE\Resources\ABF2B561-DFC4-4769-8327-25C8BB2E0D7D_physmat_aspects_1:Metal\thumbnail\0\5a7577105a7561f0trilux_alu_anodized - 703_png: line 26 of

And the other also refers to not being able to Acess the path above.
Can you try repairing the Shared Materials in the program and features. ? See if that helps

As per the dump files there is a issue with the NT file system, please reinstall the operating system and check for the issue. Please take the data backup before reinstalling the operating system.

Hope this helps. Do post back if the issue persists. Also check Lenovo Thinkpad X201 Manual for expert' suggestions.

Hello from Spain

I have the same issue in my AMD Ryzen 1800X 64Gb + Nvidia GTX 1080.

In revit, when Material Editor opens, the CPU (not the GPU) raises to 100% in windows taskmanager, fans start to blow inmediatly at full throttle and in 15-20 seconds the system hangs.

No matter about graphics acceleration is set on or off.
The only solution (workaround), I have found is not show the miniatures in material editor, only text list.

regards.

This is, quite honestly, the only useful entry in this entire string. Turning off the thumbnails in materials library solved the problem for me. Much better solution than having to reinstall my entire OS. Thanks!
