Hi! 

 

I am having two difficulties in getting the space parameters to accurately represent the building room/space.   It is a Revit model for a 2-story, single-family home with a pitched roof.  On the second floor, I want the space of the room to meet the roof line, at an angle.  Instead, the space is a square shape that includes an area outside of the roof.  The second issue is that when I select 'area and volume calculations' in the 'spaces and zones' tab,  all rooms on the second floor appear more like square footage, in that they seem to only be including an area a few inches above the second floor.  

 

This is what I have tried.  I followed steps from (Place Spaces Up to the Roof | Revit 2016 | Autodesk Knowledge Network) and placed the 'upper limit' of the space to a level line placed above the top of the roof.  No luck, the boundary of the space does not match the slanted roof line but still extends above the roof.  

 

The one error code that comes up for each room says that the spaces are "not upper bounded by a roof, ceiling or floor element."  I have created section views, worked with Visibility/Graphics (VG) adjusted the 'Upper Limit, Limit Offset and Base Offset" at great lengths and I can not seem to resolve these issues.  I have also ensured that the roof and wall elements are "room bounding" and created "schedule/quantities" so I can see that the spaces are all placed, have correct perimeters and are not overlapping.      

 

I have attached screen shots of the two issues.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is Area and Volume checked?

....is your roof a Room Bounding element? 

 

...no other Room Bounding Elements in-between?

Yes.  Roof, walls and floors are 'room bounding'.

Area and volume is checked also.  

 

No other roof bounding elements are in-between.

  1. The bounding elements are in main model or a link?
  2. If yes, Is the link set to be bounding?
  3. Can u post a section cutting through offending areas (fine or medium detail + space reference and fill enabled

@barthbradley and @RDAOU .  Thank you for your prompt responses!  I am really amazed how you both come through.   I appreciate it.  @barthbradley when checking 'other in-between' elements I noticed that I did not have a gypsum board 'finish face' or 'finished floor' in the model.  Once I put that in, the model corrected itself and now the roof/space lines match and the cubic feet for the spaces are correct.  Inadvertently, you helped me solve it!  Thank you both for your time!  H
