This is the counter-productive way of doing it. I guess the question is posed because when, for example, someone has modelled a floor elements with complicated sloped (like a screed floor) and you want to exactly match a roof type above the floor geometry, instead of setting all the points one by one, the quick way would be to change the type from floor to roof (and vice versa depending on the scenario) so you can then change the type with one that doesn't have variable thicknesses and can therefore fit like a glove. I have come across this issue many times. There is no right or wrong way of choosing a screed to be a floor or a roof, but when you need to make the two work, it's not easy when you inherit models where there was no holistic strategy and be able to correct things.
