Interior Elevations within Linked Models - Help getting Room and/or Level Bound

I'm with an interior design firm that often is working within an Architect's linked Revit model. We're obviously at the mercy of the Architect's Revit model version and currently still have some models in version 2018.3. It has happened in at least one of our 2019 projects.

I'm trying to get standards set and train the younger upcoming design assistants with Revit "best practices" and working efficiently and one issue that I cannot seem to solve that is EXTREMELY inefficient is placing interior elevations.

These elevations are acting like building sections and span through the entire model in both Y and Z planes! I understand some need for finesse in certain spaces with varying ceiling heights and where a wall isn't there at the edge of a "room" but this is in every single space with all 4 directions of an interior elevation checked. EVERY. TIME. 

Please, anything to help with this is greatly appreciated.

So you want the view to show only this?

What's preventing you from Cropping the View?

If you link in model and Revit didn't detect any wall in your own file, the interior elevation will extend to entire site. Typically you can do copy and monitor first and then add in your interior elevation.

Nothing prevents me from cropping the view at all, it's just not efficient to place elevation tags that are not bound to the confines of a room and have to crop EVERY elevation in a project.

only way i know of to do what your asking is to

• place a Scope Box in the room set to the wall, floor, ceiling centers.
• name the scope box based on the room name.
• then set the elevation to that scope box.

if you only need it on isolated instances it may be an acceptable option. I would personally never recommend telling my interiors group to do that, but it is an option.
