Interior Elevation Tag - Sheet Number Placement

My office created a custom interior elevation tag based on what we used to use in AutoCAD. The problem is the sheet number box can't be moved based on which direction the elevation is pointing- see images.

We have the sheet number placed so that it looks fine with the lower right directions, but very disconnected with the upper left. (it'd be nice to be able to just drag the sheet number wherever you want without affecting the position of the direction boxes.

Is there any way to control the placement of the sheet number label based on which direction(s) is used?

I tried setting up Yes/No params in the family, but these params aren't accessible from the elevation tag settings. The family that controls the "look" is buried.

Any thoughts?

Sounds like you need an Instance Parameter which unfortunately is not possible with Tags.

Yeah, that's exactly what I tried to do and then realized I couldn't get to those parameters once they were used in the project. 😕

Might not be practical, but you can always create different TYPES within the family.

That'd mean we'd have to have a different type for every position we may want the sheet number in, right?

I'm looking at the possibility of just redesigning our tag altogether. The beauty of the current design is we could squeeze it into tighter spaces than some of the larger designs with the sheet number in the center.

Stick with the basic, as long as you sheet numbering isn't polluted with a bunch of prefix suffix then you should be okay.

Yep. I presented this idea to the team and they don't like it. They like the current look of the tag we use and its ability to not take up a lot of space.

I ended up going the types route and made 5 types that places the sheet number in different locations around the pointers. Works good, just a little more complicated. Not bad at all, though.
