Insulation

I can add the insulation afterwards, but I would prefer this to be automatic.

1) If I have a stud wall with batt insulation, is there a hatch to use that would work to show the insulation?

2) If I have a stud wall/floor and the insulation is not as thick as the stud. Is there a simple way of show this off as well?

You just need to apply an insulation fill pattern/material to your walls.

I personally don't like this scenario as usually I only show insulation in sections and details.

Not automatically, but Revit has a tool for this: Insulation (Annotate Tab).

Reconfigure the hatch pattern from this post to work with Revit if you really want to go the route I mentioned...

...a "batting" model pattern for the stud layer cut pattern?

Well heck, if you really want accuracy; model the stud wall as a curtain wall with mullions for the studs, sills, plates and blocking -- and pink CW panels for the Owens Corning insulation.  Smiley Wink

Think it has to be a drafting pattern for it to work.... I would never do it, but I have seen it done.

And yes....been there done that....except for the Pink Panther panels....gotta draw a line somewhere....

Whats the scale of the Drawing you wanna show the insulation??

1. at 100 or 200 scale drawings, usually the insulation shown in simple square hatch.

2. at detail level 1:20, 1:10, everyone uses Insulation from annotation.. works as line based family...

There are hatch patterns available you may edit them.. I have attached revit file and pat file for your reference..

hatch patterns some free on links..

but as everyone suggestion, any experienced user won't use " hatch pattern " for insulation within Walls...

Best luck.
