Instance parameters in family will not change in revit 2018.1

I saw this topic under structures but just in case... Editing Family Instance parameters for some of our users in 2018.1.18 doesn't work.  They make the edit and then there's a flicker and the edit reverts to the original and the "apply" button grays out.  Hitting the same button might or might not work after several attempts.  The same files work for some users- but not all.

I see this issue dates back to at least July so- has anyone heard of any fixes?

I don't know if it addresses your specific issue, but 2018.2 just came out today (10/11)

Thanks for the suggestion dplumb,

Updating to 2018.2 did not fix it. 

Hopefully somoene from autodesk will get involved but so far their "support" is silent.
