Hi All,
I've been working with point clouds in Revit for a few years already and have a step-by-step procedure on how to correctly insert point cloud to Revit before beginning modeling according to that same point cloud.
Basically, these are the steps:
1. Take some point in the point cloud (if point cloud is geo-referenced - then take one of the ground control points (GCPs) and assign that point to PBP (Project Base Point)
2. Insert point cloud "by shared coordinates"
An even better approach would be to:
1. Insert point cloud to Autocad and draw a contour line (or part of it)
2. Insert this CAD as link ("by shared coordinates") to an empty Revit file
3. Insert point cloud to the same Revit file
4. move CAD to point cloud and "Acquire Coordinates" from CAD.
But I always feel that there might be a better and safer approach.
Do you have one?
Thank you!
