incorrect presentation off cut window in floorplan

Hello everybody,

I'm having problems with a window family.

When I place it on a normal sill height (for ecample 800mm) and my window height is 1200mm, it's presented correctly on my floor plan.
When I place it on a higher sill height (for example 1322mm) and my window height is 726mm it's presented incorrectly.

My view range is set at:

- Top: associated level - offset 3000
- Cut plane: associated level - offset 1500

- Bottom: associated level - offset 0

- View depth: associated level: offset 0

Does anybody have any tips?

thanks!!!

Kelly

In the first example you give, the cut plane of the view would be cutting through the window at 700mm above its sill. In the second example, the cut plane of the view would be cutting through the window at 178mm above its sill. Is the window family substantially different at those two heights?

Hi Kelly,

Can you just clarify - is this the view range in your project or in your family?  If it's the former then you need to take a look at your view range in the family itself.  To do this click on the the plan view and then click 'View Range' in the properties palette.

It would also help if you can post the family.

Cheers

K.

Hey,

I have attached the family...
I need to give a heads up! I'm from Belgium, so the family parameters are in dutch...

I can't change the view range settings in the properties palette.

Hi,

Thank you so much! I changed my family type to generic model and my problem was solved!
What I don't understand is why they can't change these settings in the family templates.

A big thanks to you!

Changing it to a generic model is all fine and dandy...until you need a window schedule and it doesn't show up there because it isn't a window to Revit anymore, or until you need to tag it and it won't accept a window tag.

To solve that problem, open your window family, look in the family properties for the parameter called Shared, and turn it on with a checkmark in the box. Save it with a new name (maybe a suffix added to indicated it's the shared version). Create a new generic model and nest your shared window family into it. Save it too. Load it into your project.

Now you've got a generic model that will cut properly, but it still also has a window family inside that will show up in schedules and is taggable in views.
