importing or linking dwg - ucs/wcs problem?

I'm trying to import (or link - tried both) an autocadLt dwg into Revit Lt 2020.
I have moved the UCS origin in the autocad dwg to a corner of the plan drawn - but the imported plan is coming in to Revit miles away from the project base point - I suspect this is a problem with my understanding of the UCS / WCS in AutoCAD.

I have read that the "origin to origin" relies on the "WCS" of the AutoCAD drawing aligning with the Project base point - but it seems I can only move the UCS in AutoCAD (not the WCS) - pulling my hair out - help please?

Just move the CAD closer to the Internal Origin (a.k.a. The Project Base Point Startup Location) in Revit.  Best to insert Center to Center and then move.  

...If really necessary, you would move the AutoCAD elements closer to the 0,0,0 origin.    But, you can set up shared positioning through Revit to mitigate.   Either by Publishing or Acquiring Coordinates.

Thanks vm for that option - appreciated and may well end up doing that.

Problem being that I want to load subsequent floors of the .dwg (and a site plan)- I guess I'll just have to align those manually in Revit too.

Can't help thinking there's a simple solution or something I'm not doing in either appliaction.

It is easy.  Are all the DWGs aligning with each other in AutoCAD?  If so, link your CAD site plan into Revit center-to-center, move it and then Acquire Coordinates.   Then link the other DWGs via Shared Coordinates (ignore message).  

TIP: Unclip Survey Point prior to Acquiring Coordinates.
