I have a 500mb obj file that revit won't index. Has anybody seen this or had this problem?

Just a guess. Probably the mesh is too large to import or contains too many (unclosed) meshes. You might try to simplify the mesh by using a mesh editor before importing (like remake)

Thanks! ReMake helped to get the OBJ file down in size significantly but Revit still wont index it (creates a 1kb file that causes an error). Any additional thoughts?

I think you should do some troubleshooting.

-Try with another (simple) obj file and see if it works

-Try to cut up you mesh in several parts and see if it will import then.

-Repeat this with the other parts and see if there is a particular part that causes the problem

There is a paid app in the app store, Mesh Import from OBJ files (for Revit 2015 & 2016) that might be of use  (not used myself)
