Haven't been using Revit 2017 for long, but am getting a recurring pop-up warning, and multiple crashes per day.
The error:
"Starting a new transaction is not permitted. It could be another transaction already started and has not been completed yet, or the document is in a state in which it cannot start a new transaction (e.g. during failure handling or a read-only mode, which could be either permanent or temporary)."
This pop-up happens whenever I interact with any wall, in any file.
If I move a door in a wall, and it has a number of other doors or windows, this pop-up happens once for each item in the wall (I think this is what's happening). In my current multi-family project I can end up clicking "close" for several minutes before Revit finally crashes just by flipping the direction of a door in a corridor.
Thanks
My first guess would be an add-in that causes this error. Try uninstalling those and see if it solves the problem

Please mention Revit version, especially when uploading Revit files.
The only add-in I'm using at the moment is Revit Express Tools. I haven't yet taken the time to remove it and see if that's where the issue is. But I'm pretty sure I was having this problem before installing RET.
Because I'm the only one with this issue in my shop, I'm thinking it might be a wonky Revit install on my machine.
Things to try:
Yes, it is a little bit weird. This kind of error I normally see during add-in development. Basically what it is, that when you change something to the project you have to start a Transaction (with the Revit database). After one or more modifications you end the transaction to commit (or cancel) the modifications to the database. When you make programming mistakes you get this kind of errors. So I would not expect or have seen this kind of errors in 'vanilla' Revit.
